The IV services offered at Avante Medical Center are extensive. We use intravenous vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, etc, in a variety of combinations to suit different health concerns. IV therapy is an extremely helpful way to address illness and support a patient’s road to recovery. Many patients who receive IVs are able to clearly feel a benefit and often return for more. We do not bill insurance for IV services, but patients receive an encounter form they can submit if desired. For a list of ailments commonly treated with IV therapy, please look at the list on the right.
Some of our more popular IVs include:
Myer’s Cocktail—This IV contains vitamin C, magnesium, calcium, B complex, B12, B1, B5 and B6. It has multiple applications, the most common of which are acute viral and bacterial illness, asthma, fibromyalgia flares or muscle pain. It takes about 30 minutes and costs $75.
Nutritional IV—This IV is similar to a high dose multiple vitamin. We use 20 grams of Vitamin C, along with calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, selenium, copper, thiamine (B1), pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine (B6), B complex, hydroxycobalamine (B12). This IV takes about 2-3 hours and costs $160.
Mineral IV—Magnesium, calcium, potassium, zinc, copper, chromium, selenium, manganese, B6.
Pre-Surgery IV— This IV is similar to a nutritional IV and is commonly recommended to all of our patients 1 or 2 days before surgery. By optimizing nutrients before surgery, your body will have the tools it needs to detoxify the anesthesia and nutrients it needs to begin repairing and healing traumatized tissue. This IV takes about 2-3 hours and costs $160.
Vitamin C IV—High does Vitamin C acts as a superior anti-viral, anti-tumor and immune stimulant. The amount of Vitamin C is dependent about body weight. This is exceptionally great for the flu and mono! This IV takes about 2-3 hours and costs $160.
Detox IV—Vitamin C, B5, B6, B12, B Complex, Magnesium, Selenium, Glycerrhizin (licorice root), Glutathione (anti-oxidant for the liver)
Traumeel Shot—Traumeel is used for strains, sprains, pain and inflammation. The active ingredient is arnica. Traumeel is in the PDR for musculoskeletal injuries, studies demonstrate lowered inflammation and faster healing. This shot cost $25.
UBIT (Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation Therapy)—A UBIT isn’t an IV in that we add nutrients to your body. Instead, this unique and great therapy is started with an IV and your blood is withdrawn and passed by a UV light into a bottle with oxygen, which is then immediately returned to you. The UV light acts in a special way to kill bacteria and viruses. A single treatment can easily conquer a cold or flu bug. For a patient with recurring infections, a series of these treatments rarely fails at getting someone well back on the path of wellness. Specific protocols can be decided with your healthcare provider.
UBITs have been around since the 1930s and were commonly used before antibiotics were invented. It is also a current treatment used in hospitals, saved for the most ill patients, called extracorporeal photophoresis. This treatment is very common and popular in other countries; in fact, our machine and supplies are imported from Germany.
Avante also provides IM (Intramuscular) injections. We may recommend B12 shots, including a high dose of B12 or B complex for fatigue and nerve repair. Vitamin D shots are helpful at getting low serum levels in a more therapeutic range, and helpful for osteoporosis or osteopenia. Vitamin D is also quite therapeutic in the winter for SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). The hormone testosterone is available as an injection for men and women, and may be recommended for a variety of reasons.
